The Art of Remembering

Lately, I’ve been working with my good friend Susan on her website, AscendedGrace.com. Her handmade artwork has given us a place to explore something that means a lot to me: the art of remembering.

Remembering who we really are.

We spend so much of life identifying with our names, our work, our beliefs, and the things that have happened to us. Those things belong to our story. But do they tell the whole story?

I’m drawn to the idea that within each of us lives a Divine Spark. Something that connects us to the Source of life, beneath all the roles and explanations we gather along the way.

For me, remembering means recognising that Source isn’t somewhere far away. Source flows within us. We are Source expressing through a human life, each with our own character, questions, and wonderfully untidy ways.

That thought doesn’t require me to have everything figured out. It gives me something to explore in ordinary moments: listening to a friend, sharing a laugh, watching the ocean, or pausing long enough to notice what’s happening within.

Susan’s drawings offer a way into that pause. Their shapes, colours, and careful details invite us to slow down. We may each see something different in them. I like that there’s room for our own response.

My part is helping her bring that work online, where others can spend time with it. Along the way, it has become an opportunity to put words to this idea of remembering.

Perhaps remembering can be as simple as recognising that the connection we’re looking for is already here, within the human being we are today.
